Summer 2023 Notice
System Health:
1.) Our water & sewer systems continue to operate very well. Our water supply and quality continue to be excellent and usage has remained at or near normal levels. The Board wishes to thank the community for its continued diligence in conscientious water and sewer usage.
2.) Our most recent Consumer Confidence Report is available here & a page devoted to our sewer system can be found here. Please take a moment & review both of these pages for an up-to-date overview of our system health.
News & Notes:
1.) As part of our annual system maintenance program, we will be contacting homeowner's over the coming months to evaluate & function test each curb stop. Each lot has a curb stop which is an underground valve which isolates the property from the system main water supply line. Each owner will be shown where their curb stop is located, how it functions & instructed on what to do in the event of a water leak in their home. This process will also help to identify & correct those curb stops which may need replacement.
2.) The board wishes to remind all users that our water resources are shared by our entire community. During the summer months, hoses and outdoor faucets see more usage and are also traditional sources of water leaks – please check that yours are in good working order and avoid unattended watering. As always, please continue to be mindful of your water usage in general and abstain from any unnecessary activities that may impact our water supply - especially sustained pressure washing. This type of activity can expend large quantities of water in a very short time which can put a strain on our wells. Please contact the board prior to starting a project so that we can make temporary adjustments to help mitigate the short-term strain.
3.) We will be continuing to upgrade and optimize the system, structures and landscaping in the wellhead protection area. Should there be any extended periods of water service interruptions , notices will be sent out with information in a timely fashion.
4.) We have had a number of new people join our Fire District community recently & the board would like to take this opportunity to say Welcome! If you have any questions or would like to view the physical system, please contact a board member to arrange a meeting time.
>>>>> Please take a minute to fill out our contact info survey so that we may update our information and be able to reach you in an emergency<<<<

COVID-19 Notice
For all water users:
For all water users:
- Our shared water is sanitized (chlorinated) on a continuous basis.
- Our water quality is excellent, with no positive finished water bacteriological test results in more than 10 years of monthly testing.
- Our supply is very strong, continuing a long-standing trend.
- Our usage is well-within our normal range.
- Our sewer system continues to operate normally, however:
- With the current events and the focus on sanitary media, especially wipes, it is CRITICAL that all users abide by accepted protocol for flushing materials in a conscientious manner. DO NOT FLUSH WIPES EVER! Even if they say "FLUSHABLE", they are detrimental to the operation of our septic system.
- Please see our sewer system page which has a lot of useful information.
- For households with children, now is an important time to discuss the importance of Safe Flushing
Winter 2022-2023 Notice
For all water users:
For all water users:
- During a severe and sustained cold event, you might be wondering about our water lines and if there are any precautions you should be taking to prevent frozen pipes. Depending on the duration of the expected low temperatures, the risk of buried lines freezing is generally low. However - individual owner’s internal lines may be susceptible if an area of your home (through which the lines run) is poorly insulated or closed off to heat sources.
- It is generally recommended that during severe and sustained cold events, owners should consider the following actions:
- Increase thermostat temperatures temporarily, particularly in areas that are normally colder or not well insulated.
- Let one or more faucets water drip to keep water moving in both cold and hot water lines.
- This only applies when you will not be regularly using your water, such as during the night, if you will be away from home or if the faucet is in a cold and uninsulated area.
- WFD1 water users are encouraged to use water normally and to take hot showers regularly and at all hours to also keep sewer lines moving.
- Open cabinet doors, closets, crawl spaces or other locations where water lines are enclosed and have less exposure to general building heating. It may be helpful to use small fans to move heated air into some of these locations.
- If you suspect frozen pipes:
- Notify WFD1 immediately
- Keep a faucet open and shut off the water internally and at curb stop.
- Increase building heating and promote airflow.
- Do not use a blowtorch, kerosene/propane heater or any other open flame device to thaw a frozen pipe.
- The best approach is to hire a properly insured contractor to do the job.
- During severe weather conditions, there is also the possibility of electric power loss. In addition to the standard precautions (candles, batteries etc.) it is important to understand that our water system is dependent upon electric power for system pressurization. We are equipped for emergency backup power should a loss of power occur, however - if and when an outage occurs: all owners should avoid all water use until notified that it is OK to resume.
