About Us
Westford Fire District #1 is a municipality of the State of Vermont, located in the town of Westford. We operate as a non-profit public utility, serving the shared water & sewer needs of our small community in Westford.
We are a state-certified public water system; our Vermont Agency of Natural Resources Water System Identification Number (WSID) is 5450.
We are also a member of Vermont Rural Water Association (http://www.vtruralwater.org/)
Physical System
Our supply/distribution system consists of mainly water & sewer connections, with some sewer-only connections.
Our shared water system is supplied by ground water wells & a reservoir. User's are urged to be mindful of their water usage! Please refrain from washing vehicles, unattended watering/sprinkling, pressure-washing, etc. Please note also that our water system is NOT gravity-fed, which means that when electrical power is interrupted, users may experience a loss of water pressure or supply. We do have means for using a generator as a (manual) backup electrical source.
Our shared sewer system consists of a traditional gravity-fed distribution, which terminates in separate septic tanks & associated leach fields, one each for homes & townhouses.
Board of Directors
Westford Fire District #1 (WFD #1) evolved from Westford North Ridge Homeowner's Association (WNROA), which was initially set-up as a sub-association of King's Hill Homeowner's Association, specifically for the water & sewer distribution and maintenance for the homes & townhouse units within our community.
Becoming a Fire District has been crucial to the long-term success of our shared water & sewer systems. We truly have come far - our physical system is the healthiest its ever been, and with the continued support of our community, we will enjoy a sustainable supply of excellent quality water into the future.
